Water flows off a sandstone geologic feature at Shore Acres State Park on the central Oregon coast near Coos Bay / North Bend.
Shore Acres State Park was once the home of a wealthy timber baron. After fire and financial losses, he sold the area to the state. It is a beautiful natural area that also hosts a five acre formal garden that is filled with beautiful flowers and also holds an annual Christmas light display.
The draw to me is the unique, uplifted, ocean-facing cliffs that are the result of plate tectonics. They sit at a 45 degree angle (that you can see in this image) and are a part of the Coaledo formation. They are full of holes that once held concretions, round stones that mineralized before the surrounding material. It's a fascinating place, and the eternal interplay between the relentless pound of the surf and the ancient immobile stone face provide perspective into our transience in this world.

Long Exposure and Nighttime Photo...
I am a nature photographer based in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon. Living in the Pacific Northwest lends itself to inspiration. I am surrounded by beautiful colors and textures, whether in the spring flowers and meadows or the majestic forests and rivers. I don't have to go far to find beautiful shots, in fact many of them come from within a few miles of my house or even my backyard. I also love capturing objects and scenes in monochrome, finding that removing color brings out the essence of the subject. I have a passion for my craft, and am always learning and growing. I hope you enjoy my work. If you would like to see it in person, my photography can be found at Linn County Arts Guild Gifts and Gallery in Lebanon, Oregon.
