Description
Thompson's Mill is a water-powered grain mill near the agricultural town of Shedd in the mid Willamette Valley of Oregon. This mill was built in 1858 and was operated under the names Boston Mills and Boston Roller Mills. The original creators harnessed the power of the Calapooia River, and this system completely powered the mill until 1941. During the first world war, the plant ran 24 hours milling wheat to help with famine relief in Europe. Today it functions as a historic landmark and interpretive center where people can tour and get a taste of how things used to be.
