Description
A single Douglas Fir stands out against the fog on a hill alongside the Umpqua River in Oregon.
The Douglas Fir is the state tree of Oregon for good reason. It is a ubiquitous resident of our plentiful forests and a valuable natural resource in a logging state. This particular tree is a large specimen that stands out even on a clear day, but much more so against the frequent fog. We discovered it on a drive to the coast one foggy fall day.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
